Anonymous asked: I thought I would bring to your attention the tumblr-blog: beware-of-beauty [TW at link for body policing, cissexism]. Dedicated to real beauty instead of fixating on eating disorders and lucky genetics
Fuck you and the horse you rode in on. You must be new.
- There is no such thing as “real beauty”.
- Someone having an eating disorder doesn’t mean they can’t be beautiful.
- “Lucky genetics”, whatever that shit means, is no reason to disregard someone.
- Lumping conventional attractiveness and eating disorders together as if they are pack-and-parcel together is gross.
- The blog title is “men like meat, dogs like bones”, which is fucking gross and thin-shaming.
- It’s also heterosexist, because not all women want men/a male gaze.
- Guess what? Body policing of thin people is still body policing.
- While recognise that thinness is privileged in our society over fatness, we can still acknowledge that “real women have curves” very similar in it’s negativity to fat-shaming and is not okay.
- “Real women have curves” doesn’t smash the fascist beauty standards of our society, it just sneakily changes them so it polices a different set of people.
- Real women do not have curve, real women do not have anything specific because the phrase “real women” is absolute bollocks.
- The only prerequisite to being a “real” woman is identifying as a woman. that’s it. Whether you’ve got sticky-out ribs, love handles you could use as life rafts, or a giant penis.
- And as for “love[ing] what our mumma gave us”, get fucked. If a person changes their appearance beyond what god/nature/genetics/their mother dealt them, that’s their business.
- And look some hypocrisy there. “Love what your momma gave you, so long as it wasn’t ‘lucky genetics’, then GTFO”
Get the fuck out.
